goujon
Fried fish piece
Goujon is a small strip of fish or chicken, breaded and deep-fried.
The word is French for gudgeon, a small freshwater fish traditionally prepared this way.
Now it describes the cut and cooking method rather than the species: fish goujons with tartar sauce, chicken goujons and chips.
Common on British pub menus.
