goalball

Paralympic throwing game

Goalball is a team sport designed for visually impaired athletes, played by two teams of three on an indoor court.

Players throw a ball containing bells toward the opposing goal while defenders listen for it and dive to block with their bodies.

All players wear blackout eyeshades to ensure equal conditions.

Goalball has been a Paralympic sport since 1976.
