eyeshades
Brow-mounted light blockers
Eyeshades are visors or shields worn over the eyes to block light.
The term most commonly refers to the green translucent visors once worn by accountants, editors, and telegraph operators working under harsh artificial light: the stereotype of the old-time newspaperman in eyeshades and sleeve garters.
Eyeshades also refers to sleep masks worn to block light while resting.
