glaciating

Forming ice sheets

Glaciating is the process of being covered or affected by glaciers.

Land glaciates when ice sheets form and spread across it over geological time.

The term appears in scientific contexts describing how landscapes were shaped: The region was glaciating during the last ice age.

It can also mean to freeze or give a frozen appearance to something.
