gentleman of leisure
Rich man relaxing
A gentleman of leisure is a man who doesn't need to work for a living, free to spend his time on recreation, hobbies, or social pursuits.
The phrase often carries an ironic or euphemistic edge—applied to the idle rich, the unemployed, or someone between jobs: He described himself as a gentleman of leisure after the layoff.
