gender ideology

Sex-role social theory

A term used critically, usually by conservatives, to characterize views that treat gender as a social construct distinct from biological sex.

The phrase frames transgender rights, nonbinary identities, and gender-affirming care as a coordinated belief system rather than scientific consensus or lived experience: Schools shouldn't be pushing gender ideology on children.

Those so labeled typically reject the term as a polemical distortion of their positions.
