gasketing

Creating watertight joints

Gasketing is the process of applying or installing gaskets—seals placed between joined surfaces to prevent leakage of fluids or gases.

The term also refers to gasket material collectively, often sold in sheets or rolls for cutting custom shapes: We need more gasketing for the pipe flanges.

In manufacturing, gasketing compounds are applied as liquid or paste that cures into a seal.
