freshwater snails
Aquatic gastropods, unchlorinated
Freshwater snails are aquatic gastropod mollusks that live in rivers, lakes, ponds, and streams rather than saltwater environments.
They range from tiny species a few millimeters across to apple snails several inches wide.
Some are kept in aquariums to control algae; others are agricultural pests or carry parasites harmful to humans.
