tropical disease
Equatorial health affliction
A tropical disease is an illness that occurs primarily or exclusively in tropical regions—typically because the climate supports disease-carrying insects, parasites, or other vectors year-round.
Malaria, dengue fever, and sleeping sickness are classic examples.
The term sometimes carries connotations of neglect, as many tropical diseases receive less research funding than ailments common in wealthy temperate countries.
