fraternise
Mix with others
Fraternise is the British spelling of fraternize, meaning to associate or mingle with others in a friendly way, especially when such association crosses social boundaries or violates expected conduct.
The word often carries disapproval, particularly in military contexts where soldiers are forbidden to fraternise with the enemy or with civilians in occupied territories.
Officers were warned not to fraternise with enlisted personnel.
More neutrally, it can simply mean to socialize: New employees fraternised at the company mixer.
