converse

Talk back and forth

Converse means to talk with someone, to engage in conversation: We conversed for hours over coffee.

The word is slightly formal—people more often say "talk" or "chat." As an adjective and noun, converse describes something reversed or opposite: the converse is also true, the converse of a proposition.

In logic, a converse swaps the subject and predicate of a statement. (Capitalized Converse is the sneaker brand.)
