barbless
Lacking sharp projections
Barbless describes a hook or similar pointed object lacking barbs—the backward-pointing projections that prevent easy removal.
Barbless hooks are favored in catch-and-release fishing because they cause less damage to fish: The stream requires barbless flies only.
The word extends to anything deliberately made without sharp backward projections.
