flip turns
Swimmer's wall somersaults
Flip turns are the somersaulting maneuvers swimmers use to reverse direction at the pool wall without stopping.
In freestyle and backstroke, the swimmer tucks, rotates underwater, plants feet on the wall, and pushes off—maintaining momentum rather than touching and turning.
Her flip turns were so tight she gained half a second per lap.
