flavour of the month
Temporary popular thing
Flavour of the month is something or someone temporarily popular or fashionable, with the implication that the enthusiasm won't last.
Originally from ice cream shops featuring rotating monthly specials: He's just the flavour of the month—they'll forget him by next quarter.
Often dismissive, suggesting superficial or fleeting appeal rather than lasting value.
