flat spot
Worn tire patch
A flat spot is an area that's worn smooth or level on a surface that should be curved or rounded.
Tires develop flat spots from sitting too long in one position or from hard braking.
In engines, a flat spot is a hesitation in acceleration—a moment when the throttle doesn't respond as expected: The carburetor causes a flat spot at low RPMs.
