bald tire
Treadless wheel covering
A bald tire has worn down to the point where its tread is gone or nearly gone, leaving a smooth surface that provides poor traction, especially on wet roads.
The image parallels a bald head—where hair should be, there's nothing: Those bald tires are dangerous; you need to replace them before winter.
