firelighters

Blaze starting blocks

Firelighters are small blocks or sticks of combustible material used to start fires in fireplaces, wood stoves, or barbecues.

They catch flame easily and burn long enough to ignite larger kindling and logs.

Commercial firelighters are typically made from compressed wood shavings, wax, or other flammable substances: I used a couple of firelighters to get the campfire going.
