false wall
Concealed room divider
A false wall is a secondary wall built in front of or behind an actual wall, creating a hidden space between them.
False walls conceal storage, safe rooms, mechanical systems, or architectural flaws.
In fiction and history, they hide secret passages, contraband, or people: The smugglers built a false wall in the cargo hold.
The term also applies to temporary partitions that subdivide spaces without being structural.
