escitalopram

Serotonin reuptake inhibitor

Escitalopram is an antidepressant medication in the SSRI class, prescribed for depression and anxiety disorders.

Sold under the brand name Lexapro, it's the purified active form of citalopram.

My doctor switched me from citalopram to escitalopram.

Like other SSRIs, it works by increasing serotonin levels in the brain.
