monotherapy
Solo drug treatment
Monotherapy is treatment using a single drug or therapeutic approach, as opposed to combination therapy.
The term appears most often in medical contexts discussing cancer, HIV, or psychiatric treatment: Monotherapy with lithium controlled his symptoms for years.
The prefix mono- emphasizes that one agent alone is doing the work.
