encoring

Calling performers back

Encoring is calling for or giving an encore—an additional performance demanded by an audience's applause or cheers.

When a crowd keeps encoring, they're urging performers back onstage for one more song or piece.

The term also applies from the performer's side: a band encoring might return to play their biggest hit after the scheduled set ends.

The audience kept encoring until the pianist played three extra pieces.
