elevation profiles
Terrain altitude charts
Elevation profiles are graphical representations showing changes in altitude along a route or path.
The horizontal axis displays distance traveled while the vertical axis shows height above sea level, creating a side-view cross-section of terrain.
Hikers, cyclists, and runners use elevation profiles to assess difficulty: The elevation profile showed a brutal 2,000-foot climb in the first three miles.
