easterlies
Winds from sunrise
Easterlies are winds that blow from the east.
The term appears most often in meteorology, referring to persistent wind patterns: the trade winds are tropical easterlies, and polar easterlies blow from high-pressure zones near the poles toward lower latitudes.
The singular easterly can be a noun for such a wind or an adjective describing direction.
