down dog

Inverted V stretch

Down dog is a yoga pose where the body forms an inverted V—hands and feet on the floor, hips raised, head hanging between the arms.

Short for downward-facing dog, it's one of yoga's most fundamental positions: We held down dog for five breaths.

The pose stretches the hamstrings and shoulders while building upper body strength.
