disentombing

Extracting from burial

Disentombing is the present participle of disentomb—to remove from a tomb or grave, or more broadly, to bring something buried or hidden back into the open.

The word applies literally to exhumation and figuratively to uncovering what has been concealed or forgotten: disentombing old family secrets, disentombing artifacts from the ruins.
