reburying

Putting underground twice

Reburying is the act of burying again—returning remains to the ground after they have been exhumed or disturbed.

This may happen when bodies are relocated to new cemeteries, when archaeological specimens are returned to indigenous communities, or when graves must be moved for construction: The project was delayed while workers reburied the bones found on site.
