A digitizer is a device or software that converts analog information into digital form.
The term most often refers to graphics tablets that translate pen movements into computer input, or to the process of converting physical documents, images, or audio recordings into digital files: The museum hired a team to digitize their photo archives.
In touchscreen technology, the digitizer is the layer that detects finger or stylus contact.
