pointe work
Dancing on toes
Pointe work is ballet dancing performed on the tips of the toes, with the foot fully extended and supported by specially reinforced shoes called pointe shoes.
It requires years of training to develop the necessary strength and technique.
Pointe work is traditionally associated with female dancers and is central to classical ballet's aesthetic of ethereal lightness: She began pointe work at twelve.
