delta region
Sedimentary river terminus
A delta region is an area where a river deposits sediment as it flows into a larger body of water, creating a fan-shaped landform with multiple distributary channels.
These regions are typically fertile and densely populated: the delta region of the Nile, Louisiana's delta region.
The term also refers more broadly to the surrounding geographic area that shares the delta's character and economy.
