dekes

Icy evasive maneuvers

Dekes are feinting movements, especially in hockey, used to deceive an opponent about your intended direction.

A player dekes by faking one way then going another: He deked the goalie and scored.

The term comes from decoy and extends beyond sports to any misleading feint: She deked left, then cut right through the crowd.
