powerplay

Aggressive tactical maneuver

A powerplay is a strategic maneuver using strength or advantage to pressure others.

In hockey and other sports, it's the period when one team has more players on the field due to an opponent's penalty: They scored twice on the powerplay.

In business or politics, a powerplay is an aggressive move to gain control or force an outcome: The merger was a classic corporate powerplay.
