chip shots
Short lofted strokes
Chip shots are short, lofted golf strokes played from near the green, designed to pop the ball into the air briefly before it rolls toward the hole.
The technique uses minimal backswing and relies on the ball's roll rather than carry: She practiced her chip shots until sunset.
In soccer and hockey, a chip shot is a quick lift over a goalkeeper or defender.
