debit note
Billing adjustment document
A debit note is a commercial document notifying a buyer that their account has been charged—the opposite of a credit note.
Businesses issue debit notes to correct undercharges, add fees, or adjust invoices upward: We received a debit note for the shipping costs they'd initially omitted.
In banking, a debit note confirms a withdrawal or charge to an account.
