debits
Ledger's left entries
Debits are charges subtracted from an account—the opposite of credits.
In banking, a debit reduces your balance: The debits from last month exceeded my deposits.
In accounting, debits record what's owed or spent, appearing on the left side of a ledger.
A debit card draws directly from your bank account rather than extending credit.
