stop payment
Revoke a check
Stop payment is an instruction to a bank to refuse payment on a check or automatic withdrawal.
You might place a stop payment if a check is lost, stolen, or issued in error: I called the bank to put a stop payment on the rent check.
Banks typically charge a fee for this service.
The order expires after a set period unless renewed.
