dead naming
Using abandoned name
Dead naming is the act of calling a transgender or nonbinary person by the name they used before transitioning—their "dead name"—rather than their chosen name.
This is generally considered disrespectful or harmful, whether done intentionally or carelessly, because it disregards the person's identity.
She was upset when her coworker kept dead naming her in meetings.
The term is also spelled as one word, deadnaming.
