daywatch

Sunlit sentry duty

A daywatch is a period of duty or guard service during daylight hours, as opposed to a night watch.

The term appears in nautical, military, and security contexts where continuous coverage requires shifts: He drew the daywatch while his partner took nights.

In some usage, daywatch refers to the personnel assigned to that shift rather than the time period itself.
