cube roots

Third-power inverses

A cube root is a number that, when multiplied by itself three times, produces a given number.

The cube root of 8 is 2, because 2 × 2 × 2 = 8.

Every real number has exactly one real cube root, including negative numbers: the cube root of -27 is -3.

In notation, cube root uses a radical sign with a small 3: ∛64 = 4.
