prime factorization
Breaking into primes
Prime factorization is the process of breaking a number down into the prime numbers that multiply together to produce it.
Every positive integer greater than 1 has exactly one prime factorization: 12 becomes 2 × 2 × 3, while 30 becomes 2 × 3 × 5.
Finding the prime factorization of large numbers is computationally difficult, which makes it useful for encryption.
