covens

Groups of witches

Covens is the plural of coven, a gathering or assembly of witches.

Traditionally, a coven numbers thirteen members who meet to practice magic or worship.

The word extends to any close-knit group with shared interests or secretive purpose: Her book club was more like a coven—fiercely loyal and impenetrable to outsiders.
