count out

Dismiss from consideration

Count out means to exclude someone from participation or consideration: Count me out—I'm not interested.

It also means to enumerate items one by one while removing them from a group: The teller counted out five hundred dollars in twenties.

In boxing, a fighter is counted out when the referee counts to ten over them and they fail to rise.
