survive
Make it through
Survive means to remain alive through danger, hardship, or adverse conditions.
A patient survives surgery; a species survives extinction; a building survives a fire.
The word extends to getting through difficult experiences: I barely survived that meeting.
To survive someone is to outlive them: She survived her husband by twenty years.
A survivor is one who remains alive, or more broadly, one who perseveres through trauma or adversity.
