corrie
Mountain's ice scar
A corrie is a bowl-shaped hollow on a mountainside, carved by glacial erosion.
The term is Scottish, corresponding to *cirque* in geological usage and *cwm* in Welsh.
Corries typically have steep back walls and may contain small lakes called tarns: We climbed up into the corrie where the snow still lingered.
