corks

Wine bottle seals

Corks is the plural of cork—the lightweight, buoyant bark of the cork oak tree, or stoppers made from it.

Wine bottles are sealed with corks; to cork a bottle is to close it this way.

Cork also describes anything made from the material: cork flooring, cork board.

As an exclamation, corks is a mild, old-fashioned oath: Oh corks, I've forgotten my wallet!
