contraposition
Negated converse equivalence
Contraposition is a logical operation that transforms a conditional statement by negating and reversing its parts.
If the original statement is "if A then B," the contrapositive is "if not B then not A"—logically equivalent to the original.
The contrapositive of "all dogs are mammals" is "all non-mammals are non-dogs." The term appears mainly in formal logic and mathematical proof.
