comprador

Native foreign agent

A comprador is a local agent or intermediary who facilitates business between foreign traders and domestic markets, originally in East Asia.

The term now carries political weight, describing local elites who serve foreign economic interests at the expense of their own country: comprador capitalism, a comprador class.

The word implies collaboration with outside powers for personal gain.
