complete protein

All amino acids

A complete protein contains all nine essential amino acids—the ones the human body cannot synthesize and must obtain from food.

Most animal proteins are complete: meat, fish, eggs, dairy.

Plant sources are often incomplete, though quinoa, soy, and buckwheat are exceptions.

Combining incomplete proteins (rice and beans) achieves the same result.
