lean mass
Fat-free body weight
Lean mass refers to the total weight of everything in the body except fat—including muscle, bone, organs, water, and connective tissue.
It's commonly used in fitness and medical contexts to assess body composition, since someone with the same weight as another person may have significantly different proportions of lean mass to fat.
After six months of strength training, her lean mass had increased by eight pounds.
The term is sometimes used interchangeably with fat-free mass, though lean mass technically includes a small amount of essential fat in organs and cell membranes.
