combat engineers
Fortification and demolition
Combat engineers are military personnel trained to perform construction, demolition, and obstacle-clearing tasks in combat zones.
They build bridges, roads, and fortifications while also breaching enemy defenses, clearing minefields, and destroying infrastructure to impede opposing forces.
Unlike civilian engineers, combat engineers operate under fire and must be proficient soldiers as well as builders.
The combat engineers bridged the river overnight so armor could advance.
