pallbearers

Casket transport team

Pallbearers are the people who carry a coffin at a funeral, typically six or eight, walking in formation from hearse to gravesite.

The role is usually given to close friends or family members of the deceased as a mark of honor: His brothers and childhood friends served as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers walk alongside without actually bearing weight.
